Rocky Hill Roundup SuperD 2013

Heading into the Rocky Hill Roundup race weekend, the weather was looking sketchy. Fortunately, the rain held off on Saturday and we were able to participate in the SuperD.

If you’ve never done a SuperD, around Texas it is a ‘mostly’ downhill race, usually 5-10 minutes in length or so.

I had tried to do the SuperD at El Deguello but my chain blew up in the first 1/4 of the effort. I was able to put in a solid effort at Rocky Hill.

I’ll tell you this, I had no idea I could push myself so hard in a 5 minute downhill effort. It took me a solid hour and a half for the nausea and light headedness to go away.

At any rate, it was great fun, although I will not put forth this kind of effort the day before a big XC race again. I feel that the high intensity negatively affected my race the next day as I was just not able to push myself as hard as I was expecting.

That is Alex Arumi from Cycle Progression that I’m tailing and ultimately lose to. Tried to give him a run for his money though!
