4 Month Catch Up

Hopefully I will go back and write entries that cover the last 4 months, but in case I don’t get around to it, here’s a quick recap:

  • My P90x round didn’t go so well.  I only really did the Monday & Tuesday workouts for about 4 weeks.  I just felt too busy to make the time and I didn’t want to give up any of my ‘ride’ time so P90x pretty much fell by the wayside.
  • I did an amazing 6 day bike trip with my best friend, riding 220 miles from Durango, CO to Moab, UT.  This alone deserves multiple days worth of updates.
  • I have continued to ride regularly, although with limited hours.  Typically around 4 hours per week, but I am trying to push that up to 6-8.  I as yet to accomplish this much riding outside of my bike trip.
  • On a whim I raced 2 TMBRA fall series races.  I placed 5 of 12 in Abilene and 7 of 17 in Waco.
  • I have every intention of trying to be a finisher in the TMBRA Spring Series in 2013.  I’ll be racing in the Cat 3 40-49 bracket.  My goal is a top 10 series finisher.  This will require me to average around 30 points per “counting” race, which essentially means I’ll need to hit 5 top 12 finishes.  Given how my times are looking right now, that is doable with some added fitness gains.  If I can improve my fitness between now and Feb the same amount I have improved in the last 6-8 months, then I will be sitting pretty.
  • I had really wanted to do the Enchilada Buffet this year, but I was unable to get any good ride time in, and a race came up at City Park (Emma Long) that I wanted to do (read the next entry).  I am setting a goal now to do the EB in 2013.
  • My bike has given me all kinds of trouble ever since returning from Colorado.  I have been plagued with all sorts of mechanicals, most recently a completely torqued chain during my attempt at El Deguello SuperD at City Park this weekend.
  • The last 4 weeks I have been following the Time Crunched Training Program and have seen some pretty good gains.  I am looking to finish out a 10 week program towards the end of December, take 1 month off and begin a fresh cycle in February in time for the Spring series.

So with that, you are pretty much caught up on my cycling adventures!
